Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 is a great luxury midsize SUV. It’s equally impressive inside as it is under the hood. The Q7 has a polished interior, a ton of safety and technology features, potent powertrains, and lithe handling. However, it may put too much emphasis on “sport” and not enough on “utility,” as its third row and cargo space are small for the class. The Q7’s long list of family-friendly tech and ample praise from automotive journalists helped make it a finalist for our 2018 Best Luxury 3-Row SUV for Families award.
Q7s use a 3.0-litre TDI V6 engine, but the entry-level version makes 215bhp, which compares with 268bhp offered by the top-spec TDI. Torque also falls from 443lb ft to our car’s 369lb ft.
The result is a 0.8sec increase in the 0-62mph time to 7.3 seconds, and an 11mph reduction in top speed to 134mph
You might know that the Q7 shares its basic underwear with the Bentley Bentayga, which bodes well given how highly we rate that car.

Audi SQ7

The SQ7 is the first S-badged performance derivative that the Q7 range has had, but it’s not the first go-faster Q7 that Audi has built.

If you can recall the short-lived, ultra-rare Q7 V12 TDI of 2008, you will remember a car with an even more monstrous engine than the SQ7’s, developed from that of the multiple Le Mans-winning R10 TDI race car. As early water-testers into the market for fast luxury SUVs go, the Q7 V12 TDI was as mad as a 24-carat gold ceremonial meat cleaver, but as crazy as the idea sounds, it did exist.
