Policeman injured after Audi he tried to pull over crashed into his patrol car

A police officer was injured after his car was involved in a crash with an Audi he tried to pull over. The drama unfolded in the Fitton Hill area of Oldham on Sunday evening. The officer tried to stop an Audi A6 which he first saw on Wildbrook Crescent at around 7pm.

After the motorist initially stopped, as the officer began to make enquiries the vehicle left, colliding with the police car. The crash is said to have happened close to the roundabout opposite Hill Farm Close at around 7.30pm. The officer, who was inside his car at the time, was injured in the collision but his injuries are not believed to be serious, a GMP spokesman said.

More police were dispatched to the scene and the car was eventually found abandoned nearby. No arrests have yet been made and officers are continuing to try and track down the driver.
